Photogrammetry is a Cultural Evolution

The emerging process of photogrammetry has tremendous potential for creative projects.

By photographing a subject from many different angles, it’s possible to use computer software to virtually reconstruct an object.
The images become mapped onto the resulting mesh and the output is a beautiful, photo-realistic, 3D model.

I see photogrammetry as an emerging multimedia process. Maybe only in the future will we see the true range of applications which involve 3D scanning. What do we even artistically consider in an image composition that’s no longer bounded by a 2D frame?

The possibilities are endless.
