This is How I Work

Location: Easthampton, MA

Current gig: Sound Sample Curator and Admin for Sample Focus. Sample Focus is a freemium website that provides high quality sound samples

Mobile device: A BLU phone. It’s a slightly obscure, reliable, and most importantly, affordable phone.

Current computer: I actively use a custom computer that I built for my specific needs. It’s powers my digital multimedia work.

It’s specifications are as follows:

  • Ryzen 2700x processor for multi-core workloads.
  • GTX 1080 graphics card for 3D work and hardware acceleration.
  • 32 GB DDR4 RAM for large data sets.

One word that best describes how you work: Adventurous.
I consider myself to be driven by inspiration. With an adaptable and versatile approach, my energy comes from engaging with the unfamiliar.

What’s your workspace like?
For my workspace I need a spacious desk. On top of my desk is:

  • my tower PC
  • an audio interface
  • two monitor speakers
  • a microphone
  • a synthesizer
  • notebooks & sketchpads

What’s your best time-saving trick?
Planning out everything on a calendar app helps me spend less time figuring out what I have to do and more time doing those things.

What’s your favorite to-do list manager?
Trello is a really cool productivity tool that I discovered several years ago when my friends and I needed something to track progress on a project.

Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without?
A camera. Being able to capture photographs allows me creatively express myself. I’ll always love cameras. They’re the perfect blend of technology and art.

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?
Using non accusatory language.
Most conflict is rooted in miscommunication or assumption. My empathetic nature helps me remain aware, grounded, and preventative of problems

What are you currently reading?
Learning is Natural, School is Optional by Ken Danford & Reflections of a God Gone Mad by Te’V Smith.

What do you listen to while you work?
This depends on the mood I’m in. This ranges from R&B to abstract hip-hop beats. Occasionally I’ll listen to some ambient soundscapes. “Knxwledge” is one of my favorite producers. He puts out some really nice music.

Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?
I’m an ambivert. It seems like I have a big mix of both extroverted and introverted characteristics. I have a slight lean towards extroverted

What’s your sleep routine like?
It depends on whether or not there’s a reason to wake up the next morning. If I’m actively working, my sleep schedule conforms to the necessity of the job.

Typically I’m naturally inclined to go to bed around 3 AM and wake up around 11:00AM or later.
Most of my energy comes late at night or during the early morning hours. Afternoons are typically more relaxed and I start to perk up during the evenings. I’ve been described as a “night owl”.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I’m most productive when I integrate creative thinking to the work that I’m doing. I approach work from a creative angle in order to take advantage of this.
